Thailand is venturing into niche tourism with the launch of Thailand UFO Days, an unconventional festival set to take place at Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam in Nakhon Nayok Province.

Organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the three-day event will run from February 13 to 15, 2026, between 16:00 and 22:00 daily. The festival explores extraterrestrial phenomena, blending science, belief systems, and unexplained mysteries in a format rarely seen in Thai tourism.

The initiative aligns with TAT’s “Value over Volume” 2026 strategy, which focuses on meaningful travel experiences rather than mass tourism. Instead of attracting large crowds, Thailand UFO Days aims to draw visitors with specific interests — including science and technology enthusiasts, UFO believers, and travelers seeking unusual cultural events.

Nakhon Nayok is a fitting location. The area is already known among UFO enthusiasts, particularly Khao Kala, often nicknamed the “Area 51 of Asia.” The region previously hosted a UFO-themed music festival in 2024, cementing its reputation as a hotspot for unexplained phenomena. The dam’s quiet nighttime environment also makes it ideal for sky observation and open discussions.

Thailand UFO Days will feature a mix of educational and community-driven activities focused on unidentified flying objects, space technology, and extraterrestrial theories. Rather than spectacle-driven entertainment, the festival emphasizes dialogue, shared experiences, and curiosity-driven exploration.

By introducing a specialist festival like this, Thailand positions itself as a regional hub for alternative and interest-based tourism. The event also reflects a broader shift in Thai travel trends, with visitors increasingly seeking distinctive destinations and experiences beyond traditional beaches and temples.

For travelers intrigued by the mysteries of the universe — or simply looking for a unique reason to explore central Thailand — Thailand UFO Days offers a fresh perspective on what travel in Thailand can be.
