Film lovers in northern Thailand have something special to look forward to this month. The Oscar Film Festival Chiang Mai is bringing a lineup of acclaimed international movies to the city throughout March 2026, offering audiences the chance to experience award-winning cinema on the big screen.

The festival takes place at Wednesday Shine cinema, a small but popular independent theater located in the trendy Nimmanhaemin area of Chiang Mai. The event is organized in partnership with Doc Club & Pub and the Film Culture Promotion Association, both known for promoting independent and international films in Thailand.

Designed as a northern counterpart to the well-known Oscar-season screenings at House Samyan, the festival ensures movie fans in Chiang Mai can enjoy the same caliber of cinema without traveling to Bangkok.

Across eight featured titles, the program highlights films that have earned recognition from the Academy Awards. The lineup includes winners and nominees from around the world, spanning multiple genres — from intimate character dramas to powerful documentaries.

Featured films include Sirat, Cutting Through Rocks, No Other Land, Drive My Car, Aftersun, Citizenfour, Once, and Amores Perros. Together, these films represent a wide range of storytelling styles and cultural perspectives.

Screenings will be held every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening throughout March at Wednesday Shine. Doors open at 17:00, giving visitors time to relax and enjoy the venue’s laid-back atmosphere before the films begin.
