Place type: Monument
District: Pathum Wan
City: Bangkok

Bangkok Railway Station, Hua Lamphong (หัวลำโพง), is on Rong Mueang Road in Rong Mueang subdistrict, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330. The Tourism Authority of Thailand lists it under landmarks and memorials. Construction began in 1910, late in the reign of King Rama V, and the station was finished and opened on 25 June 1916, in the reign of King Rama VI. TAT says it was built in an Italian dome style mixed with Renaissance art, similar to Frankfurt Railway Station in Germany. Mario Tamagno, an Italian architect, designed it. The same page says he also designed Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall, Paruskavan Palace, Makkhawan Rangsan Bridge, and other important places. At the end of platforms 11 and 12 is the Commemoration of the State Railway, on the site of the first Bangkok railway station, before this larger station. The contact box gives the email bangkokstation.srt@gmail.com and the telephones +66 2220 4334 and 1669. A website link is labelled on the page, but the address behind it was not captured. No opening hours and no ticket price are printed. Facilities named are parking and a restroom. TAT classes the station as a landmark, not as a museum.Photo: 0005512 – Hua Lamphong Station.jpg by Preecha.MJ, CC BY-SA 4.0 (2017), the station front at dusk.
