Thailand has earned high praise for its commitment to sustainable and innovative tourism, with two key organizations – the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA) and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) – receiving multiple accolades at the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Awards 2025. The annual awards recognize outstanding contributions to the travel industry across the Asia-Pacific region, spotlighting creativity, responsibility, and forward-thinking initiatives.

DASTA’s Grand Award for Sustainability

DASTA secured one of the event’s most prestigious distinctions, the Grand Award for Sustainability & Social Responsibility, for its Ban Na Ton Chan Homestay Community Enterprise. This community-driven project preserves local culture while boosting the livelihoods of residents, serving as a benchmark for sustainable heritage tourism in Thailand.

Beyond the Grand Award, DASTA received five additional Gold Awards in the sustainability category, highlighting initiatives in climate action, inclusive tourism, empowerment of women and youth, and destination resilience. These achievements reinforce Thailand’s growing influence in developing tourism that benefits both communities and the environment.

TAT’s Success in Marketing

The Tourism Authority of Thailand also stood out in the marketing category, taking home two Gold Awards:

  • Best Integrated Digital Marketing Campaign (Destination) for the “Love Season” initiative, which used emotive digital storytelling to promote romantic travel within Thailand.
  • Best Travel Photography for “The Hidden Romance of Sam Roi Yot,” a visually striking showcase of one of Thailand’s peaceful coastal landscapes.

Recognition Amid Thailand’s Growing Global Accolades

These awards add to Thailand’s expanding list of international honors, following recent successes in the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2025. The trend highlights the country’s rising reputation as a leader in both innovative marketing and community-focused tourism development.

Award recipients will be officially honored during the PATA Gold Awards Gala Dinner on 27 August 2025, held as part of the PATA Travel Mart in Bangkok. Winning projects will also be featured at the event, offering industry delegates the chance to explore some of the most inspiring tourism initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region.
