Thailand has secured a strong presence in a new global ranking of digital nomad destinations, with seven locations making it into the top 100. Bangkok led the list, claiming the number-one spot worldwide, according to a study by hotel booking platform HotelWithTub.

The analysis reviewed more than 1,300 cities and assessed factors crucial to remote workers — including affordability, safety, quality of infrastructure, internet connectivity, and overall quality of life.

Bangkok Takes First Place

Bangkok topped the ranking, with a score of 91 out of 100. The Thai capital was praised for its balance of affordability and robust infrastructure, with living costs for a single person estimated at around THB 50,000 per month. It also attracts over 23 million visitors annually and has an 18% repeat-visitor rate, reflecting its enduring appeal.

City Hall officials welcomed the recognition, noting that it underscores Bangkok’s ability to meet the professional and social needs of digital nomads while offering a high quality of life.

Other Thai Cities in the Top 100

Thailand’s presence in the ranking extended far beyond Bangkok. Other cities highlighted were:

  • Nakhon Ratchasima (5th place) – The most affordable city in the top 10, with living costs averaging about THB 34,500 per month.
  • Koh Phangan (13th place) – A well-known island hub for remote workers and long-stay travelers.
  • Chiang Mai (26th place) – A perennial favorite for digital nomads due to its café culture and relaxed lifestyle.
  • Koh Lanta (45th place) – Popular for its beaches and co-working communities.
  • Phuket (59th place) – A mix of modern amenities and island living.
  • Krabi (93rd place) – Attractive for its scenic coastline and quieter atmosphere compared with Phuket.

Global Context

While Bangkok claimed the top spot, other global destinations rounding out the top five included Dubai (2nd), London (3rd), and Tokyo (4th), demonstrating the growing competition among cities to attract mobile professionals.
