The new daily service, operated via Hong Kong, makes travel between North America and Thailand easier than ever, reaffirming Bangkok’s role as a leading gateway to Asia. Travelers from both Los Angeles and San Francisco can now enjoy smooth connections to Bangkok through United’s extensive U.S. network.
At Suvarnabhumi Airport, the first flight was greeted with a water salute and a ceremony attended by U.S. ambassador Robert F. Godec, TAT governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, and United Airlines executives.

Ms. Thapanee said that the return of United Airlines marked a “significant milestone” in Thai–U.S. relations, strengthening tourism and economic ties between the two countries.
United’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner offers 257 seats across Polaris Business, Premium Plus, and Economy cabins. Flight UA820 departs Los Angeles nightly at 23:15 and arrives in Bangkok the following morning at 11:25 (via Hong Kong). The return flight, UA821, leaves Bangkok daily at 16:55, arriving in Los Angeles at 20:25 the same day.
This new service makes United the first U.S. carrier to serve Bangkok since 2014, highlighting Thailand’s growing appeal as a top global travel destination. It also complements Air Canada’s Vancouver–Bangkok route and the surge in North American visitors inspired by international productions such as The White Lotus Season 3, filmed in Thailand.
The U.S. remains one of Thailand’s strongest long-haul markets, with over 808,000 American visitors arriving between January and October 2025 — a 5% increase year-on-year. The number is expected to exceed 1 million visitors by year-end, generating more than THB 62 billion in tourism revenue.
With United Airlines’ new Los Angeles–Bangkok route, travel to Thailand has never been more convenient — connecting Americans to the Land of Smiles and its world-famous culture, cuisine, and hospitality.
