Thailand Ranks 7th Happiest Country in the World

Thailand has secured the 7th spot on the Global Happiness Index 2025, with seniors emerging as the most content demographic, according to a report by global research firm Ipsos.
The study, which surveyed 23,765 individuals under 75 across 30 countries from December 20, 2024, to January 3, 2025, highlights a strong sense of well-being among Thais.
In Thailand, 61% of participants described themselves as “somewhat happy,” while 18% said they were “very happy.” Just 2% reported being “not happy at all,” reflecting a largely satisfied population.
Notably, individuals aged 70 and older expressed the highest levels of happiness. Among Gen Z respondents, young men reported greater happiness than their female counterparts.
Key sources of happiness for Thais include meaningful time spent with family, feeling loved and accepted, and a sense of personal autonomy.
Conversely, financial worries, mental health struggles, and physical health issues were cited as major obstacles to happiness.
