Thailand continues to cement its reputation as a global beach destination, with three of its shore gems earning spots on the prestigious World’s 50 Best Beaches 2026 list. Leading the way is Donald Duck Bay in the Similan Islands, which secured an impressive 10th place, while beaches in Trang and Phuket ranked 23rd and 27th, respectively.

Located within Mu Ko Similan National Park, Donald Duck Bay — also known as Ao Kueak — sits on the northern tip of Similan Island No. 8. Despite its relatively small size, the beach stands out as one of Thailand’s most visually distinctive coastal spots. Its signature feature is a cluster of massive granite boulders, famously shaped like the head of Donald Duck. This natural formation has become a must-visit “postcard viewpoint” for travelers exploring the Similan Islands.

Donald Duck Bay is especially popular during the park’s open season, typically from November through May, when visitors can enjoy snorkeling in crystal-clear waters. Annual monsoon closures help protect the area’s delicate ecosystem, preserving its pristine beauty for future travelers.

Further south, Koh Kradan is home to Paradise Beach, ranked 23rd on the list. Known for its tranquil atmosphere and powdery white sand, it’s often described as one of Thailand’s most peaceful island escapes — ideal for those seeking a quiet retreat away from crowds.

Meanwhile, Phuket boasts another entry with Freedom Beach, which came in at 27th. Tucked along the island’s west coast, this secluded stretch of sand is celebrated for its calm waters and laid-back vibe, offering a more relaxed alternative to Phuket’s busier tourist hotspots.

Thailand has consistently performed well in global beach rankings. In the 2025 edition, Bang Bao Beach in Trat Province earned an impressive third place, while Freedom Beach also made the list at 28th — highlighting the country’s enduring appeal among international travelers.

The World’s 50 Best Beaches rankings are compiled annually based on votes from thousands of experienced travel professionals. These are carefully reviewed by the organization’s team and its panel of Beach Ambassadors. Beaches are evaluated based on factors such as uniqueness, natural surroundings, wildlife, soundscape, accessibility, water conditions, and overall tranquility.

This year, the top spot went to Entalula Beach in the Philippines, followed by Fteri Beach in Greece and Wharton Beach in Australia.
