Japanese culture takes center stage in Bangkok as Siam Paragon presents SIAM PARAGON THE WONDROUS JAPAN HERITAGE 2026, a major cultural celebration taking place from August 20 to 30, 2026.
Held in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Thailand and Thailand’s Ministry of Culture, the event celebrates the close relationship between Thailand and Japan through traditional arts, warrior culture, Japanese crafts, bonsai, food, fashion, and lifestyle experiences.
One of the event’s major attractions is an exhibition of Japanese bonsai, including a centerpiece tree that is more than 500 years old. Visitors can also experience samurai swordsmanship, ninja performances, Japanese craft workshops, and other activities at Siam Paragon.
Experience the World of Samurai and Ninja
The AWAKEN THE SAMURAI program offers visitors an opportunity to discover Japanese warrior traditions through demonstrations of full-scale katana swordsmanship by SHIDENRYU TOKYO, a sword school from Tokyo.
The performances explore themes associated with the samurai, including honor, courage, discipline, and their traditional philosophy of life. Visitors can also watch an Iga Ninja performance, highlighting ninja traditions, including disguise techniques, combat skills, and survival methods.
The Art of Samurai & Ninja
The Art of Samurai & Ninja performance brings together the traditions of two legendary Japanese warriors.
The samurai performance highlights the martial arts heritage associated with the Takamori clan through Kazunori Aoki (青木一矩), while the story contrasts the samurai’s emphasis on honor with the ninja’s mastery of strategy and the arts of the shadow.
The resulting performance combines traditional martial arts, swordsmanship, precision, and storytelling to explore two distinctive aspects of Japan’s warrior heritage.
The Way of the Warrior
The Way of the Warrior offers demonstrations of Japanese swordsmanship while exploring the traditional values associated with the samurai, including honor, dignity, and discipline.
Visitors can also learn more about ninja traditions and the skills traditionally associated with these legendary figures, including agility, intelligence, and strategic thinking.

Try Japanese Craft Workshops
From August 20 to 23, visitors can also take part in Experience Japanese Craft, a series of activities designed to provide a closer look at Japanese culture.

Discover the traditional Japanese art of paper folding, an activity that combines creativity, precision, and attention to detail.
Maneki Neko Workshop
Create your own maneki-neko, or Japanese lucky cat, using clay. The workshop offers visitors the chance to make a traditional symbol associated with good fortune and prosperity.
Samurai by Reiner Knizia
Fans of strategy games can try Samurai by Reiner Knizia, a classic board game that combines strategic thinking and decision-making with the broader Japanese theme of the event.

See a 500-Year-Old Japanese Bonsai
One of the highlights of SIAM PARAGON THE WONDROUS JAPAN HERITAGE 2026 is A Living Legacy of Time: Japan Bonsai Exhibition by Bonsai Hunter.
The exhibition presents a collection of Japanese bonsai that explores the relationship between nature, artistry, heritage, and the passage of time.
At the center of the exhibition is a bonsai tree that is more than 500 years old, alongside “The Magnificent Seven,” a group of seven featured bonsai specimens. The exhibition also includes other Japanese bonsai that are rarely seen in Thailand.

Join a Bonsai Exhibition Tour
Visitors can learn about the history, background, and distinctive characteristics of the bonsai on display through guided talks by experts from Bonsai Hunter.
Tours are available on Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m.
Learn How to Care for Bonsai
A dedicated Bonsai Workshop will introduce participants to bonsai styling and maintenance techniques with guidance from bonsai experts.
The workshops are scheduled for Saturday, August 22, and Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Registration is available through Bonsai Hunter’s social media channels.
There is also a Bonsai Lucky Draw for visitors who spend THB 3,000 or more at the event. Eligible participants can enter for a chance to win Japanese bonsai trees and other prizes with a combined value of more than THB 50,000, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
