The Samui Summer Jazz series is set to make its return in 2026, with Skål International Koh Samui presenting “Jazz Rhythms in the Air” for one night only on April 28 at 20:00. The event will take place at the stunning InterContinental Koh Samui Resort.

This exclusive evening promises a standout showcase of world-class jazz, headlined by internationally recognized Dutch trumpeter Michael Varekamp. He’ll be joined by his quintet, along with fellow Dutch musician and acclaimed tenor saxophonist Alexander Beets. Together, they will perform their celebrated program, From New Orleans to New York, taking audiences on a journey through the roots and evolution of jazz.

Varekamp has built a diverse and respected career spanning more than 30 years, combining performance, festival organization, broadcasting, and music theater. Known for blending classic jazz traditions with modern influences, he has collaborated with a wide range of international artists and contributed to cross-genre creative projects.

Beets, on the other hand, is widely admired for his powerful tone and unmistakable swing. A familiar name among jazz fans worldwide, he has performed alongside some of the genre’s greats and leads his own quintet. His work also includes collaborations with the Saskia Laroo Band and the New York Round Midnight Orchestra — both of which have previously appeared with him on Koh Samui.

The concert will be held at the resort’s iconic Air Bar, famous for its sweeping sunset views over the Gulf of Thailand. Guests can expect an unforgettable musical experience that traces jazz from its New Orleans beginnings to the vibrant New York scene.

Organized in partnership with Sisters on Samui and supported by Bangkok International Hospital, the event also serves a meaningful purpose. Proceeds contribute to local charitable efforts through SOS (Sisters on Samui), particularly their Music in Schools initiative, which helps bring music education to children on the island.

Tickets are priced at THB 1,000, including one complimentary drink, or THB 2,500 with a pre-show dinner at 19:00.
