Phuket is moving ahead with Phase 2 of its airport expansion project, led by Airports of Thailand (AOT), aiming to increase annual passenger capacity from 12.5 million to 18 million. The project focuses on expanding the international terminal to accommodate up to 10.5 million international travelers annually.

On May 7, a public seminar was held at Splash Beach Resort, with over 150 participants from government, private, and local sectors. Deputy Governor Pol. Col. Adul Chuthong highlighted the project’s role in supporting Phuket’s position as a global marine tourism destination and improving residents’ quality of life.

Key developments include seven new aircraft parking bays, enhanced traffic flow, and upgraded utilities to meet international standards. The project, managed by AOT and P.K.A.C. Group, is expected to significantly strengthen tourism, trade, and investment in the region.
