Burger King fans were full of beans after the fast-food chain revealed it was bringing back its most requested burger.
The Ultimate Bean Burger hit UK branches on 3 January, following an absence that left customers petitioning for its return.
The burger is said to be a ‘new and improved’ version of the original, with ingredients that include black beans, mushrooms, sweet red pepper, green chilli, crispy lettuce, freshly sliced tomatoes, creamy vegan mayonnaise and tangy tomato ketchup.
Although the Ultimate Bean Burger contains dairy cheese, which makes it suitable for vegetarians, it can be ordered without the cheese, so vegans can enjoy it too.
The burger is one of several vegan and vegetarian items offered by the burger giant, whose aim is to be the global leader in plant-based alternatives in the quick-service industry. Burger King’s sustainability commitments include sourcing soy that wasn’t produced on deforested land (or land under threat of deforestation); using coffee and cocoa produced and certified by the Rainforest Alliance and/or Fairtrade; and sourcing all its timber and paper from responsibly managed forests.
