Travelers from the Middle East now have a convenient new way to reach Southern Thailand, as Etihad Airways has introduced its direct Abu Dhabi–Krabi route. The new service, operated by a 160-seat Airbus A321LR, adds approximately 7,650 seats per month—boosting Thailand’s Middle East capacity by about 16% and making Krabi more accessible than ever.

The route strengthens Krabi’s position as a leading destination for beach vacations, wellness, culture, and sustainable travel. According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the service supports efforts to attract high-value visitors seeking luxury, family-friendly, wellness, and halal-oriented experiences.
TAT governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool notes that the new connection helps advance sustainable tourism development in Southern Thailand by encouraging authentic local experiences rooted in culture, community, and environmental responsibility.
Krabi province is also expanding its appeal through responsible-tourism initiatives, including the award-winning Lanta Archipelago National Park, recently recognized in the 2025 Green Destinations Top 100 Stories.
To promote the new flight, TAT’s Dubai Office is hosting key opinion leaders (KOLs) from GCC countries on curated trips that highlight Krabi’s food culture, community experiences, and unique attractions, such as Hidden Gem Cities and the Jurassic World Rebirth filming locations.
Middle Eastern travelers remain a key market for Thailand, staying an average of 10 days and spending around THB 104,000 per trip. With Etihad’s new nonstop connection, Krabi is now even better positioned to welcome this growing segment of global visitors.
