Vegans and vegetarians in search of a buffet on a budget during their stay in Hong Kong should head for Everyday in the Tsim Sha Tsui area in southern Kowloon. As its name suggests, Everyday opens its doors daily, with a 75-minute time limit for lunch and a 90-minute one for dinner, during which you can take your pick of a variety of vegetarian and vegan buffet items of Chinese cuisine laid out on a central counter running lengthways up the restaurant, with additional counters along the back wall. Those not partial to spicy food will find plenty to load up their plate with, including soups, noodles, rice, fried and boiled vegetables, fried wontons, tofu variations, sweet-and-sour vegan pork, mixed mushrooms, baked tomatoes with black beans and lotus root cake. Although many of the dish names are in Chinese only, vegan items are labelled. There is also a small section of raw fruit and salad at the back of the restaurant, along with some desserts, including vegan ice cream. Also included in the buffet are unlimited water, tea and vegan coffee. As a heads-up, there are a couple of rules to follow at Everyday, such as not talking in the food area and having to take your tableware to the recycling area once you’ve finished with it. Owing to the restaurant’s popularity, the place can get quite crowded, so reserve in advance to avoid disappointment.
