The Artist's House (Baan Silapin)
The Artist’s House, Baan Silapin (บ้านศิลปิน), is on Khlong Bang Luang, but not in Bangkok Noi or Thon Buri. The Tourism Authority of Thailand office in Japan gives the address as 315 Wat Tong Sala Ngam, Soi Phet Kasem 28, Phet Kasem Road, Khuhasawan subdistrict, Phasi Charoen district, Bangkok 10160. It is about ten minutes by car from BTS and MRT Bang Wa. TAT Japan says a goldsmith’s family owned the house, Chumpol Akapantanon bought it, and it opened as an art gallery on 9 September 2009. The building stands around a stupa. Work is made and shown there, and prints, ornaments, and postcards are sold. There is a cafe, and the canal is part of the view the page describes.
The hours on that page are Monday and Tuesday 10:00 to 18:00, Wednesday and Friday 09:00 to 18:00, and Saturday and Sunday 09:00 to 19:00. Thursday is not listed. A Thai dance puppet show is free at 14:00 every day except Wednesday. The page says the show can also be cancelled when the troupe is performing elsewhere, and it asks visitors who want to be sure to telephone 02-868-5279 first. It does not say whether walking into the gallery itself is free, so only the show is described as free. The URL it prints is https://www.facebook.com/Baansilapin/. No separate venue website, email, Instagram, or TikTok is printed.
