To build excitement, a lively parade was recently held in the heart of Phuket Town, drawing both locals and visitors. The promotional kickoff marked the beginning of a weeklong series of art-related activities that welcomed 85 international artists, 65 Biennale participants, and more than 800 art enthusiasts. Workshops, exhibitions, and creative projects are being spread across multiple venues to immerse the community in the spirit of the Biennale.

According to Phuket governor Sophon Suwannarat, the Biennale will not only enhance the province’s cultural value but also attract visitors from around the world, strengthening the island’s role as a leading art and travel destination. Anchalee Tephabutra, president of the Phuket Art Association, added that the event is a significant milestone, bringing local traditions into conversation with global artistic trends while stimulating the economy and promoting Phuket as a true international art hub.

Among the highlights are permanent outdoor installations, including Richest Roller by Kamol Tassananchalee, The Labyrinth #2 by Pitupong Chaowakul, Moon Calendar by Aree Kongpol, a work by Nolan Oswald Dennis, and five bat-inspired sculptures titled Fu Fu Lucky Bat. The Biennale’s mascot, Fu-Fu, a cheerful 1.5-metre bat, has been introduced as a symbol of joy and cultural connection.

Art will also extend to the sea, with plans for an underwater sculpture trail designed to attract divers while supporting marine conservation. Meanwhile, iconic cultural landmarks such as Saphan Hin and the Clock Tower roundabout will feature immersive art installations, offering visitors a curated art journey through the city.

With its blend of local culture, international creativity, and innovative installations, Thailand Biennale Phuket 2025 aims to redefine the island as more than a beach paradise—positioning it firmly on the global art stage.
