Introduction

Holiday Inn Resort Krabi Ao Nang Beach has the kind of location that makes Ao Nang easy to enjoy. The resort sits on a hillside in the heart of Ao Nang, with the beach about a five-minute walk away and the area’s restaurants, cafés, shops, and tour operators close at hand. At the same time, the property has enough greenery, swimming pools, and landscaped space to feel like a resort rather than simply a hotel in the middle of town.

The atmosphere is contemporary, relaxed, and distinctly family-oriented, although couples and other travelers can also make good use of the setting. Thai-inspired details give the rooms and public spaces a sense of place, while the facilities put plenty of emphasis on spending time at the resort itself. There is a main swimming pool, a children’s pool and water park, a kids’ club, a spa, a 24-hour fitness center, and several places to eat and drink.

With Ao Nang Beach so close, it is easy to divide the day between the coast and the resort. That balance is one of the property’s strongest practical advantages: you can walk out for the beach, dinner, or an evening around Ao Nang, then return to a property with its own pools and quieter garden areas.

Facilities

The resort’s facilities are built particularly well around families. The Kids Water Park has slides, fountains, and shallow pools, while the Kids’ Club provides an indoor and outdoor space for children’s activities. The hotel’s Kids Stay & Eat Free program also applies to children under 12 at Rakhang Thai Bistro & Bar, subject to the program’s terms and availability.

Adults have plenty of their own options. The main pool is surrounded by greenery and rock formations, with the Pool Bar nearby for light food, local favorites, cocktails, mocktails, and smoothies. The pool operates from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Antique Spa provides massage and wellness treatments, while the 24-hour fitness center has treadmills, stationary bikes, free weights, an elliptical machine, and a stair stepper. Complimentary Wi-Fi and on-site parking are also available.

For meetings and smaller business gatherings, the resort has dedicated meeting facilities with several room configurations. The setting makes it possible to combine a work-focused stay with the attractions of Ao Nang outside meeting hours.

Accommodation

The accommodation has a warm, modern look with Thai-inspired touches, private balconies, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, Smart TVs, tea and coffee facilities, minibars, and workspaces. Standard rooms measure 29 square meters, while Premium Rooms range from 36 to 72 square meters.

The larger accommodation becomes particularly interesting for families. Suites range from 36 to 72 square meters and can include a king bed with bunk beds, while the Family Suite provides 50 to 89 square meters, with sleeping arrangements designed around families traveling with children. The Two Bedroom Suite measures 89 square meters.

Several room categories have balconies overlooking the pool, gardens, mountains, or water-play areas. For families, the combination of bunk-bed options, connecting rooms available on request, and larger suites gives the resort more flexibility than a conventional standard-room setup.

Hotel Dining

Rakhang Thai Bistro & Bar is the main dining destination, with a menu that moves comfortably between Southern Thai cuisine, other Thai favorites, Indian dishes, and international comfort food. The current menu includes recognizable Thai specialties such as Tom Yum Goong, Massaman Nua, and Pad Thai, alongside homemade pizzas, pasta, burgers, salads, and Western dishes.

The Southern Thai section is one of the more distinctive parts of the menu. Dishes include Sen Mee Gang Poo, a crabmeat curry with rice noodles; Gang Som Pla Yod Ma Praw, a spicy-sour seabass curry with coconut shoot; and Moo Hong, pork belly stewed with Chinese herbs.

The restaurant’s setting also suits the resort’s location. Its outdoor terrace looks toward Ao Nang, giving meals a more open, tropical feel than a conventional enclosed hotel restaurant. Breakfast runs from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m., lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and dinner from 5:00 p.m. until midnight.

There is also a pool bar, serving brunch and lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with light bites, local favorites, pizzas, cocktails, mocktails, and smoothies. KAI Coffee Bar provides another casual stop for coffee and is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Vegetarian & Vegan Options

Vegetarian diners are particularly well catered for at Rakhang Thai Bistro & Bar. The current menu contains a separate Vegetarian Menu rather than simply marking one or two dishes within the main selection. That makes the restaurant considerably easier to navigate for vegetarian guests.

The dedicated vegetarian selection includes:

  • Khao Phad Phak, fried rice with vegetables.
  • Phad Se-eiw Phak, stir-fried wide noodles with vegetables.
  • Phad Thai Phak, Thai noodles with vegetables and bean sprouts.
  • Tao-hu Phad Med Ma-muang, stir-fried tofu with cashew nuts.
  • Tao-hu Phad Kra Prow, stir-fried tofu with hot basil.
  • Khiaw Waan Tao-hu Phak, green curry with tofu and vegetables.
  • Pa-nang Tao-hu Phak, panang curry with tofu and vegetables.
  • Massaman Tao-hu Phak, Massaman curry with tofu, potato, onion, peanuts, and vegetables.

There are additional vegetarian-marked choices elsewhere on the menu, including deep-fried vegetable and glass-noodle spring rolls, bruschetta, nachos, a veggie burger made with mushroom, black beans, and oats, and a vegetarian pizza with tomato, onion, broccoli, capsicum, mushrooms, black olives, and mozzarella.

That gives vegetarian travelers multiple choices across Thai, Western, and casual dining rather than leaving them dependent on side dishes or salads.

Vegan diners require a little more care. Although the Rakhang menu itself does not identify dishes as vegan and its dedicated menu is explicitly described as vegetarian rather than vegan, an extensive buffet breakfast is laid on, including breads and cereals, so vegans shouldn’t go hungry.

Atmosphere & Setting

The resort makes good use of its hillside setting. Gardens and greenery soften the property, while the architecture and interiors combine contemporary resort styling with Thai-inspired details. The result is polished without feeling disconnected from Ao Nang’s tropical surroundings.

The public areas are designed around movement between different parts of the resort: the main pool and children’s water facilities create a lively center for families; the garden and Kids’ Club provide space for younger guests; and Rakhang’s terrace gives dining a more open setting. KAI Coffee Bar provides a smaller, more relaxed corner for coffee during the day.

For couples, the location is particularly convenient because Ao Nang Beach and the area’s restaurants and evening activity are within walking distance.

Families are an especially natural fit, given the children’s water park, Kids’ Club, family rooms, bunk-bed accommodation, and Kids Stay & Eat Free program. Groups can also make use of the larger suites and meeting facilities.
