Curious as to the level of English among Thai physicians in Thailand and medical personnel generally.

In my experience, they all speak English to varying degrees. As a rule of thumb, the more expensive the hospital, the better the level of English, though that's not always the case, of course.

Yeah, ive had doctors that speak fluent English and one that communicated with me in broken English and the help of a translation app. A mixed bag. but generally, no probs. I wouldn't go into a hospital in Thailand with high hopes of the nursing staff being fluent though. They get by tho and I've found them generally pretty helpful.

Was at St Louis a couple of years back and I had a doctor that spoke flawless English with an American accent. It was only the fact she started jabbering away in Thai to her assistant that I knew she wasn't a native English speaker. Impressive. Dunno why she wasn't at the likes of Bumrungrad. 🙂

Many of these Thai doctors have some training abroad, so I think their English is quite good.
