Hong Kong Disneyland, Hong Kong’s biggest theme park and one of its most popular attractions, continues to work its magic, receiving its 100 millionth visitor in December 2023. If you’re planning to be part of that magic, Hong Kong Disneyland has three Disney hotels to choose from, putting you as close to the action as possible and maximising your Disney experience. So which is the best hotel? We’ll walk you through the features of each Disney hotel, including rooms, facilities and food, to help you decide which is the most suitable fit for you.

The Hotels

Hong Kong Disneyland’s three hotels are Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Hollywood Hotel and Disney Explorers Lodge. Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel has 400 rooms and six floors, Disney’s Hollywood Hotel has 600 rooms and eight floors, and Disney Explorers Lodge has 750 rooms and seven floors.

Location

Hong Kong Disneyland is one of the most accessible Disney parks, served by its own MTR line, and all three Disney hotels are within walking distance of the park entrance, with Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel the closest of the bunch (a 10- to 15-minute walk away, compared with the 10- to 20-minute walk from Disney’s Hollywood Hotel and Disney Explorers Lodge). For a map showing the location of the hotels, see here.

Transport

All three of the hotels lay on a free 24-hour shuttle-bus service. The shuttle buses leave every 10–20 minutes between 06:00 and 01:00. Outside these times, transport can be arranged by contacting the front desk of your hotel.

Star Rating and Price

Both Disney Explorers Lodge and Disney’s Hollywood Hotel are four-star hotels, while Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is five-star. This is reflected in the price, with Hong Kong Disneyland the priciest of the three, Disney’s Hollywood Hotel the most budget-friendly and Disney Explorers Lodge the mid-range option.

So which is the best hotel for you?

Your choice of hotel may be influenced by a number of factors, such as your budget, length of stay and even the time of year that you visit. The best choice for budget travellers is Disney’s Hollywood Hotel, while guests travelling as a family may want to consider Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel for its facilities and recreational activities, although the adventure theme of Disney Explorers Lodge is sure to be a big hit with the kids. Vegetarian and vegan guests should find enough to eat at the breakfast buffet of each hotel, with larger spreads and dietary help on request at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and Disney Explorers Lodge. There may be more limited choice for vegetarians and vegans looking for on-site lunch and dinner options, but, of the three hotels, Disney Explorers Lodge comes out on top, with a handful of Indian dishes to choose from. It’s also worth noting that while Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and Disney Explorers Lodge both offer in-room dining, no such service is available at Disney’s Hollywood Hotel.

If you’re staying in the winter months (December to February), you should be prepared for cold weather (temperatures can get as low as 8 °C in Hong Kong in winter), so unless you’re a hardy swimmer, Disney’s Hollywood Hotel, with its indoor pool, might be a more appealing choice. For quieter stays, guests might prefer Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel or Disney’s Hollywood Hotel, as Disney Explorers Lodge tends to be popular with families.
