Fans of heritage train journeys would leave their locomotive bucket lists with a glaringly wide gap if they missed out on a chance to board The Blue Jasmine, a beautifully restored heritage train that reimagines rail travel through Thailand. Departing from Bangkok’s historic Hua Lamphong Station, this slow-travel journey winds through four culturally rich provinces, stopping at some of the country’s most significant ancient sites.
Created in collaboration with DTH Travel, the State Railway of Thailand, and Jim Thompson, the experience blends refined design, cultural immersion, and leisurely exploration. From the moment guests are welcomed until the final stop, every detail has been carefully curated to reflect the elegance and craftsmanship synonymous with the Jim Thompson brand.
A Thoughtfully Designed Journey

The Blue Jasmine is a 1960s vintage charter train composed of 10 cars and designed to host up to 36 passengers. The route connects Bangkok with Ayutthaya, Uthai Thani, Sukhothai, and Chiang Mai, offering a rare opportunity to explore UNESCO World Heritage sites, meet local artisans, engage with nearby communities, and enjoy regional Thai cuisine at a relaxed pace.
Rather than rushing from destination to destination, the journey embraces the philosophy of slow travel, inviting passengers to fully absorb the landscapes, traditions, and stories encountered along the way.

The experience begins with an exclusive dining event at the Jim Thompson Heritage Quarter. Guests are treated to a specially curated five-course Blue Jasmine menu that highlights contemporary Thai cuisine, drawing inspiration from flavors across the country.
This is followed by a guided visit to the Jim Thompson House Museum, a collection of six traditional teak houses built in 1958. The museum reflects Jim Thompson’s deep appreciation for Thai architecture and showcases his personal collection of Asian art and antiques. Before boarding the train, guests also have time to explore the Jim Thompson Iconic Store.
From there, the journey officially begins at Hua Lamphong Station.
A Moving Showcase of Thai Craftsmanship

Once onboard, passengers step into an immersive design experience. Nearly 2,000 Jim Thompson decorative pieces transform the train into a rolling exhibition of Thai heritage craftsmanship. Thoughtful color coordination and refined detailing create a cohesive aesthetic throughout the cars.
The train includes observation, dining, and sleeping cars, all furnished with Jim Thompson Home Furnishings. Interiors feature luxurious silk accents, such as curtains, cushion covers, bed runners, and table linens — each chosen to reflect the essence of Thai artistry and elegance.
Details That Elevate the Experience

Jim Thompson dining accessories and personal items further enhance the onboard atmosphere. Placements, napkins, and coasters complement the dining experience, while amenity kits include silk-inspired makeup cases and sleep masks. Botanical patterns mirror the changing scenery outside the windows, while select designs take cues from traditional Thai weaving techniques.
Adding a unique touch, the train also features the first-ever Jim Thompson showroom on rails. This dedicated retail space showcases signature silk products along with select fashion and lifestyle items. Guests can browse onboard and make purchases via QR code, with delivery arranged at the end of the journey.
Upcoming Journeys

Following its inaugural trip last November, The Blue Jasmine has scheduled additional journeys for January, February, July, November, and December. Details for the 2027 travel schedule are expected to be announced soon.
