Every year on November 19, World Toilet Day highlights the importance of safe, clean, and accessible sanitation for all — a mission Thailand has embraced with pride and innovation.

Visitors to Thailand can rest assured that finding a throne in the kingdom is rarely a challenge, as public conveniences are widely available in shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, and gas stations, with many facilities offering Western-style flush toilets, bidet sprays, toilet paper, and handwashing stations. In smaller towns or rural areas, you may still encounter squat toilets, but these are generally well maintained and equipped with water for cleaning. Overall, Thailand’s restroom standards are high, especially in major cities and tourist destinations, making bathroom breaks comfortable and stress-free for travelers.

Leading the list was the Caltex fuel service station (Sakaengam Branch, Kanchanaphisek Road, Bangkhuntian District), which won the Fuel Service Station category for its spotless facilities and user-friendly layout.

The Siam Piwat Group also claimed top honors, with Siam Paragon named Public Toilet of the Year and ICS receiving the Outstanding Standard Toilet award. These recognitions reflect the group’s commitment to maintaining world-class hygiene and customer comfort in its retail complexes.

Thailand’s public and private sectors continue to raise the bar for sanitation, ensuring that restrooms — whether in malls, hospitals, or petrol stations — meet international standards. This progress not only improves public health but also enhances the visitor experience, aligning perfectly with the spirit of World Toilet Day: dignity and cleanliness for everyone.
