Veganuary has finally arrived!
For the uninitiated, Veganuary (vegan January) is the yearly challenge posed by the UK charity of the same name for meat-eaters to switch to being vegan for a month.
Since its beginnings in 2014, the event has attracted growing numbers of participants from nearly every corner of the globe, with over 700,000 sign-ups last year.
If you haven’t yet converted to veganism, take advantage of this once-a-year opportunity to make a difference in the world, for the benefit of animals, the planet and yourself. Here’s to your good health!

Why go vegan?
People go vegan for different reasons. Some do it for ethical reasons; some for environmental. Others switch to veganism for a healthier way of living, or to address certain health issues they may have or have suffered from in the past. It can be for all of those reasons or none of them.

Afraid to take the plunge?

Changing your whole dietary way of life is not an easy step to take, and there are some big industries out there that have a vested interested in discouraging you from taking it. Even on a personal level, you may run up against opposition from people afraid of change themselves, who often decide that it’s easier to convince you you’re wrong than to address their own fears.
To explore the reasons people may be reluctant to try veganism, see our article ‘Why People Don’t Go Vegan’.
Need some documentary evidence?
It can be hard to make an informed decision when we don’t have the full story. For a more detailed picture, we’ve drawn up a list of some documentaries on veganism that both inform and inspire. You can browse the list here.
Still interested but don’t know where to go from here?
Standing on the threshold of a brand-new lifestyle can be an exciting but confusing time. With so much conflicting information out there, it can be tricky to know which direction to go in or how to kick things off.
