Bangkok is set for a fright-filled weekend as the Bangkok Horror Film Festival returns March 13–15 for its second edition. After a successful debut last year, the festival is back with free admission and a new venue that raises the stakes: the long-abandoned New World Department Store in Bang Lamphu.
The festival presents a curated lineup of Thai and international feature films, as well as short films from emerging directors. The program spans psychological thrillers, supernatural folklore, and nail-biting horror, appealing to both die-hard fans and casual moviegoers.

But this isn’t just a film-screening event, as organizers are transforming the deserted mall into a fully immersive horror experience. Visitors can explore a haunted-house installation, attend ghost storytelling sessions, and take part in interactive activities. The eerie atmosphere of the empty shopping complex adds a chilling backdrop that few traditional cinemas could match.
The festival is co-organized by Wizard Production, Bangkok Central Cinema, the Thai Film Director Association, and Documentary Club, highlighting collaboration within Thailand’s film community. In addition to screenings, the event supports rising talent through a short horror film competition, offering a total prize pool of THB 200,000. Selected entries will be screened during the festival.
For horror fans visiting Thailand — or Bangkok residents looking for a unique cultural experience — this three-day event promises screams, suspense, and a one-of-a-kind setting in the heart of the city.
