Marugoto Vegan Dining Asakusa is a delightfully quaint plant-based café-cum-restaurant just a block away from Asakusa Station and directly opposite Sumida Park. Run by a team of dedicated health-conscious vegans and vegetarians, Marugoto cares as much for its customers as it does for the environment, taking a sustainable approach to cooking by using waste-free methods and turning food scraps into fertilizer. Marugoto’s goal of providing delicious food, a comfortable space and pleasant customer service is clearly achieved, turning a meal into an uplifting, health-promoting experience. There is evidence throughout of the Marugoto magic touch, from the warm welcome to the creative hand-drawn menu, which features such mouth-watering temptations as Fried Tempeh, Japanese Tempura Rice Bowl and Avocado Topping Curry – all as good as they look, and all free of food additives, white sugar, garlic, onions, leeks, chives and rakkyo. A gluten-free menu is also available. Depending on the meal size you order, you may be lucky enough to have some room left over for dessert, as the sweet-potato donuts, soy-milk ice cream and rice-flour waffles are crying out to be sampled.

In keeping with its environmentally friendly principles, Marugoto also sells a number of vegan products, including handmade baskets, potato noodles and baobab fruit bars, all available on-site.
