Heard the rules have changed for entering Thailand without a visa. Anyone got the latest?
Not really a change of rules – it’s just they’re getting stricter with the rules they already had before. Basically, if you’re from one of the countries eligible for 60-day visa exemption, you can still make use of that (i.e. enter Thailand without a visa and stay for up to 60 days), but no more than twice a year.
I see! Cheers for that. Can you still extend those 60 days for 1 more month?
Yeah, you can still get the 30-day extensions, but, again, you’re limited to doing that twice a year.
Also, there’s talk of the second extension (in the same year) being just 7 days, not 30. No one really know for sure which it is!
You won't be getting extension also if you come via land border. And if you go and come back on same day, then also no extension.
As with most immigration stuff though, it’s best to think of it as a general rule, coz you can technically be denied entry if you arouse suspicion. They want to see you have a justifiable reason for your stay, so they’ll look at the purpose of your visit, your travel (to Thailand) history, how long you’ve stayed in Thailand before, etc. etc.
Brilliant! Cheers everyone!
