Will probably have family visiting me later this year. What's this about the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system? Is that something that will involve them (UK citizens) or is it an optional thing?
It's not up and running yet (expected launch in June), but no, it's definitely not optional. It's a tracking thing for Thailand to beef up security. You've gotta apply online.
When ETA system is here, you must go to the e-visa website and do the process there: https://www.thaievisa.go.th/
Only citizens from the eligible visa-exempt countries are required to apply for one (the UK is included in that list of countries, so your family will need to apply for one, Shaun). As I understand it, you have to wait for confirmation (by email, one assumes) before you arrive.
Ok,thnx. Anyone know if you have to show (i.e. upload) any documents?
As I understand, the Electronic Travel Authorization is now replacing those paper slips they used to give on arrival. So, the usual details must be given, like a copy of the passport, accommodation, and so on.
How about proof of funds? Anyone got info on that?
Nothing's that clear yet. We've gotta wait for news of what's required. Should know nearer the date.
👍 Thanks, everyone.
