I've been seeing a lot of mixed information about opening a Thai bank account. How hard is it really? Any tips or advice?

It seems to range from easy to impossible, depending on your luck and the particular bank you try. 😊 One catch-22 that's floored people is needing a Thai bank account to get a retirement visa but needing a retirement visa to get a Thai bank account. 😊

Yes, because of recent problems with scam and money laundry, banks now make more restrictions for people who want to open accounts. It is sometimes each bank’s decision.

Yes, and a work permit seems to be a requirement at some banks, which won’t make much sense to those who’ve come to Thailand to retire. 😕
