Tokyo or Osaka? Which one you think is better for first trip to Japan?

Both have something to offer, depending on what you're into, but if you were forced to choose between them, I'd say Tokyo, being the capital and all that. You've gotta see Tokyo at least once in your life!

I think they're each amazing in their way. Is it possible you could do both Tokyo and Osaka? It's actually less than 2.5 hrs by train to get from one place to the other.

If you like temples, I recommend Osaka. As I remember, Kyoto is famous for its temples and culture, and it is only 30 minutes from Osaka, so this maybe helps your decision.
