Anyone been to Okinawa?

Yeah, I’ve been to Okinawa. It’s a pretty chill place. Flights are only abt 2.5 hrs from Tokyo.

I really enjoyed Okinawa. The public transport seems to be centred around Okinawa's main city (Naha), so hiring a car is a good way to see a lot more of the island. If you've ever wanted to hire a car abroad but have a few misgivings, I highly recommend Okinawa. It feels safe and calm and the roads are relatively quiet. A really lovely laid-back place.

Sounds good. Okinawa looks pretty small on the map. Can you see the whole island by car over a long weekend?

@jude I would say you'd need much longer than that. I rented a car for 10 days while I was there, visiting different parts of the island, and there was still plenty I didn't have time to see.
