Been invited out later today by a Thai-Chinese family to celebrate Chinese New Year. I know a lot of red is worn during Chinese New Year, but is there an expectation for guests to wear red too?

Yeah, I'd play it safe if I were you by putting on a red top. I used to date a Thai-Chinese girl and there was certainly a lot of red worn during the Chinese New Year.
